Red Feather takes its inspiration from the emblem of Welbeck and its crossed red feathers, which represent pride in the estate’s heritage and entrepreneurial spirit.

Our Red Feather is a robust auburn ale. Plenty of crystal malt gives this beer a rich colour and combination of bold walnut and bitter-sweet caramel flavours.

Cask at Exeter Arms, Derby. Has an indistinct aroma of malts and caramel. Pours a rich reddish brown with a msall cream head and good lacing. In the mouth the texture is creamy and the taste has fruitcake, bread crusts and malts on a base of caramel. A bit of bitterness in the finish is the first (only) hint of hops. Overall tastewise it punches above its strength. I rather like this, but I would say it’s more of an Irish red ale than a traditional bitter.

Cask @ University Arms, Sheffield [181013]
Caramel brown, clear, frothy off white head
Aroma of light caramel malts, touch of cereal, little on the nose
Taste of light soft caramel, light fruits, touch of cerak, easy going, soft light malts, not that malty overall though but ok
Palate - Light body, bit oily. Finish - soft bitter english hops, soft malts
Overall - Standard English bitter, now’t exciting, but nothing bad about it either
