Red Feather takes its inspiration from the emblem of Welbeck and its crossed red feathers, which represent pride in the estate’s heritage and entrepreneurial spirit.

Our Red Feather is a robust auburn ale. Plenty of crystal malt gives this beer a rich colour and combination of bold walnut and bitter-sweet caramel flavours.

Pint at the Crosse Keys in The City. It had been long day and this was needed. Looked great in the glass and the taste and mouthfeel were all about the rich malt. Some balancing bitter hops, but this was all about the malt. And rather good.

Gift from friends who live near the brewery. Opaque chestnut. No head. Aroma has caramel and nuts with a tang berry edge and some wooden wisps. Flavourwise it has initial berry sourness. A woody streak. Underlying burnt caramel. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Flat-soft carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish. Enjoyable Bitter.

Handpull cask at Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem. Dark reddish/brown and clear with a tight beige head. Light malty smell. Taste is sweet at first followed by a well-rounded bitterness. Some toffee/caramel flavours but doesn't dominate. Clean finish, a little grassy, with soft carbonation. Fairly standard bitter but a good one.
