For this series of Culinary Concepts, we were once again delighted to welcome back Temple Coffee & Donuts; the brewery’s favourite sugar and caffeine emporium! This time around however we felt we needed to brew something a little different, something a little darker to compliment the onset of the winter months.

To match one of Temple’s festive delights we decided to create a beer with a sweet, doughy body constructed from a generous helping of oats, wheat, and barley for a well-rounded creamy mouthfeel. Finally, we designed the beer to linger on a big hit of cranberry, almond, and dark chocolate to finish off in style!

Black with thin head. Aroma and flavour have sweetened coffee and chocolate. Light bodied but full flavoured. Sweet fruitiness from the cranberry too.

Tap @ Muted Horn. Almost black. Cocoa and berries in the aroma and flavor. Hint of roast, sweet, nutty. Has an artificial feel.

Can from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham and shared with the KL tasting crew. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a thin broken tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, nutty, chocolate, lactose, red berry fruits. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a roasty, smooth, creamy, light chocolate, light tart cranberry palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Can ordered online from Hoptimism, drunk at home. Dark mahogany brown, slightly translucent with a frothy wisp of brown head. Coffee, light berry and soft citrus, star anise and other sweet spice in the aroma. Tastw is sweet and spicy with a late hoppy bitterness. This is a lot of fun but it doesn't quite hand together as well as I'd like.
