For this series of Culinary Concepts, we were once again delighted to welcome back Temple Coffee & Donuts; the brewery’s favourite sugar and caffeine emporium! This time around however we felt we needed to brew something a little different, something a little darker to compliment the onset of the winter months.

To match one of Temple’s festive delights we decided to create a beer with a sweet, doughy body constructed from a generous helping of oats, wheat, and barley for a well-rounded creamy mouthfeel. Finally, we designed the beer to linger on a big hit of cranberry, almond, and dark chocolate to finish off in style!

440ml can. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate, cranberry, slightly nutty. Taste is sweet, dark chocolate, tart cranberries, lactose, light coffee and roast malts, no almond at all. Medium body, soft carbonation. Expected a little more but it's nice.

Can shared@Peders, Copenhagen (17/03/2019) - dark brown to black with a tan head. Sweet and roasted malty with some prominent coffee roast, some chocolate, singed brown sugar, caramel sweetness with some cranberry undertones, medium body, dark malty finish.

Can. Opaque dark brown beer, decent pale tan head. Airy palate, semi dry z reasonable fine carbonation. Slightly tangy but otherwise mellow dark malts. Touches of coffee and very mild dark chocolate. Cranberry and almond? Meh - a little Cranberry if you are looking for it. Light finish. A disappointment from Northern Monk, just feels a bit light and apologetic.

Can. Don’t know where from. Clear, dark chocolate brown. Nicely thick and sticky, lasting, tan head. Nose has bitter cook’s chocolate. Nuts. Wood bark. Twang of berry fruit. Taste is dry and twangy fruit bitter. Some brown sugar on the lips. Medium body. Fine carbonation. Pretty drying. Cocoa bitterness to finish.

Roast and sweet donut glaze like you droped Tim Hortons into your beer. Black pour with great mocha head and lacing. Caramel and chocolate. Sweet end. Can.

Can from Appellation Wines. Appearance - dark brown to black and shiny. Deep fawn head. Nose - cranberry and chocolate. Cookie dough. Taste - more cookie dough and cranberry. Coffee on the finish. Palate - close to medium bodied, creamy and tangy at the same time. Overall - weird recipe putting cranberry with coffee. Interesting though.
