Je ne sais pas si c'est la base ou si le vieillissement en fût de whisky qui est à incriminer mais l'aigreur qui est présente sur ce Feel The Darkness dessert nettement cet Imperial Stout. Le résultat est un manque de présence des arômes de café et de chocolat et un manque de profondeur patent. Les arômes de whisky ne sont également pas très affirmés sur un ensemble qui est relativement frais et où même l'alcool, à 10 % ne se ressent pas. Manque de puissance donc, mais également de complexité. En verre nous sommes sur un noir total surmonté d'une belle mousse brune de 5 mm. Le nez est sur le café et le whisky, mais contrariés par une petite acidité. A la dégustation, on retrouve de légers arômes de whisky, un café et un chocolat faibles, accompagnés d'arômes vineux de porto, une pointe de poivre mal servis par une aigreur certaine. En deuxième bouche les arômes de fût aigres prennent de l'essor sur un cocktail plat, sans relief. Le whisky, sur l'arrière bouche et le final tente péniblement de nous réchauffer. Corpulence et longueur restent limitées. Devant ce Darkness, je Feel en douce.

Bottle. Color: Black, light brown head. Aroma: Roasted malt, whiskey, sourish. Taste: Roasted malt, coffee notes, some dark chocolate hints, dark dried fruit notes, moderate sweet and bitter, combined with clearly recognizable yet subtle, bit boozy Whiskey notes and light sourish notes. Finish is moderate sweet, moderate to medium bitter, roasted malt and slightly boozy, with notes of wood and spices. Medium to above medium body, below average carbonation. Nice complexity and balance. Very well barrel aged Imperial Stout, multiple layered with a lightly sourish La Calavera twist.

Bottle 375ml. @ home. [ As La Calavera Feel The Darkness ].Clear dark black - red brown colour with a large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown to beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, coffee, wine, grapes, barrel, wood, alcohol - whisky, light smoke. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, sharp, whisky, wood - barrel, dark malt. Bottle @ Home. Pours black with a small brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, licorice, lots of wood, whisky. Flavor is sweet, malty, caramel, licorice, wood, whisky, alcohol. Full body, oily mouthfeel, soft to average carbonation, sweet finish with warming alcohol. 231218
