Honing komt heel duidelijk naar voren en blijft keurig overeind in de prima basisgeus van Toon. Maar het is wel wat weeig en iets zoet daardoor

Pours very dark for a Geuze. Darkened amberbrown, with a small, yet surprisingly stable white head. Scent is wet oak, bit 'rotten' oak even, I think due to what seems like a lower quality cork. Heavy thick and intense old oak scent, reminding of a De Troch without it's off (to me) character. Taste is full, sharp, intense oak, medium to medium low sourness for the style. All the more oaky ; old , wet, rotten/mushroomy oak. Shouldn't be this intense if only because of the cork. Perhaps due to the oud bruin? The beer tastes 'tired', gone south by ageing rather than to florish into a beautifull complex lambic. Medium body with medium to medium low carbonation. Mild residual sweetness at the end. Not intense, but something I don't expect in this style. Doesn't taste as bright and refreshing as hoped. I know Toon can do better, and can't help but feel a bit dissapointed with this one. It's not drainpour material, but just doesn't live up to expectations.

Bottle. Amber pour. Aroma of dry brett, oak, grapes, old hop and grain. Taste has dry tart brett, dry oak, funk, bitter grapefruit, bitter cherry core, floral old hop and a dry bitter finish. Not really getting the honey, shame, that would have added more complexity. Compared to other watergeus versions this is a bit more simple. Tastes more like tart pale ale instead of a lambic.
