Brewed specifically to raise funds for Brighton’s “Save Madeira Terrace” campaign. The beer pairs a classic American hop variety Centennial with a newer experimental variety from the Hop Breeding Company known simply as HBC431, and is fermented with a combination of an historic flavourful English Ale yeast and a modern West Coast American strain.

Cloudy pale golden colour, huge white head, good retention, heavy lacing. Aroma pale malt, light grapefruit, orange marmalade, pine resin, earthy notes. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, light grapefruit, orange peel, spicy notes. Mild bittersweet aftertaste, light orange pith and spicy notes. Light to medium body, watery texture, average carbonation. Nothing special, easy to drink though, nice.

Can picked up at Freshfields Market, Croydon. It pours lightly hazy yellow with a medium white head. The aroma is sweet, ripe stone fruits, nectarine, tangerine, peach, touch of marmalade, orange squash, cracker, grass and floral notes. The taste is crisp, clean, rather bitter, straw, grass, herbal, rawness, pithy citrus, soapy lemon, bitter orange, peppery spice, soda water and floral notes with a firmly dry finish. Light body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Interesting stuff, but perhaps it doesnt have enough body for the level of bitterness.
