Production moved to Northampton in 2005. Holsten Pils is one of the most widely distributed premium packaged lagers in the UK on-trade sector.

Holsten is a pale blonde German Pilsner, with a sweet earthy, lemon aroma, hoppy malty flavour and a soft lingering finish. Holsten was first brewed by the Holsten Brewery in Northern Germany in 1953.

Since then it has expanded to many other markets, primarily in Europe, and today you can experience the great taste of Holsten Pils in many countries around the world.

Clear deep gold with a tall white head. Pale malt, bread, grassy & spicy notes. Medium dry, light ho bitterness. Not really a pils still a drinkable lager

Can 50 cl. 5% ABV. Brewed by Kronenbourg, France. Golden, clear, white head. Aroma: sweet, malty, candy, a little grassy hops. Taste: malty, even with some body, a little biscuit, candy, a little hop bitterness, so-so.

Literally the only English beer in the first convenience shop I stopped in in the country. I’ve seen it on an association football shirt. Can. Lurid orange, white head. Aroma of light grains, pears, hints of spicy hops. Not so fruity in the taste and a tiny bit of bitterness at the end, but rather bland overall. But no disaster area.

Pours goldenwith a nice head (but not very stable), light aromas of fruit, sweetish taste, light hops and yeast, not unpleasant - overall a nice lager, but taste could be stronger

440ml can. Pours clear gold with white head. Aroma: sweet-ish malts, grains, hay. Taste: light to moderate sweet & light bitter, light hops and lager yeast. Medium body with soft carbonation. There are many mass produced macro lagers that taste worse than this one

440ml can. Pours golden with a nice white head. Aroma of wheat and hay with a hint of sweetness. Taste of malt, sweet sugar, cereal. A little gassy. Not a bad premium lager actually for the price and well balanced, maybe lacks some subtle notes but you would pay more for that. A very good cheap option.

26/8/2018. Can from my local One-Stop. Pours very pale gold with a foamy white head. Aroma of sweet corn, malt, bittersweet fruit, sour berries, metal and an odd hint of garlic. Quite heavy sweetness, light bitterness. Moderate body, sticky texture, average carbonation.
