Had from a Nitro-keg at Popeye’s. There seem to be many different versions of this beer: Unfiltered Bottle, Pasteurized Can, and Draught. Not sure they are all the same stout. The nitro keg version was smooth and lovely looking, full-flavored and displayed a good balance between roasted dryness and sweet malt. Had a touch of a port-like flavor as well. Very nice.

Dark brown with golden highlights. Sharp coffee roast in the aroma. Deep espresso roastiness on the palate. There’s some nuttiness but it’s mostly coffee. OK, but I would have liked more complexity.

Can. Deep brown with ruby highlites and a fairly thick, creamy tan head with plenty of noticeable carbonation. Toasted caramel malts, molasses, vanilla, grass, dark fruits, and chocolate. The grass throws me off of this otherwise nice aroma. Body is smooth, and a bit thin. Wow, bittersweet. The grass is a non factor in the flavor. Roasted malts, molasses, prunes, vanilla, and some chocolate. Finish is bittersweet malts which last a while. If you like bitter stouts this is for you. Pretty decent brew, but the odd grassy aroma is a downer. Did a side-by-side with Kirin Ichibanshibori Stout and this blows the Kirin out of the water.

Dark brown color, weak nose of dark chocolate and whisky.Medium mouth Dark chocolate, a touch of whisky. In the finish the whisky really dominates, with a touch of nuttiness and chocolate. Odd beer as the whisky flavors get stronger while the dark chocolate flavors subsided.
