For our 25th anniversary, we’ve unleashed the King Rattus XXV Blackberry Lambic. Using the recipe from our 1996 lambic, the reincarnation was brewed in 2017 and aged in French oak barrels. A late addition of fresh organic blackberries, with our unique sour cultures, creates a beer that is slightly sour and fruity with subtle oak notes and a dry finish. Cheers to a quarter century of intense handcrafted beer!

750 ml bottle. Pours a hazy brown with lot of carbonation but just a light head. Aromas of earthy berries, balsamic vinegar, funk and soft wheaty malts. Flavors of green tart blackberries, earthy cork, a bit of funk and sharp wheaty malts.

750mL bottle. Pours murky amber with white head. Aroma is pretty light; notes of blackberry and oak. Flavour is very acidic; some unripe blackberry. Very rough; not very good.

Pale darker amber, hint of purple. Bright. On the nose, this has a fair bit of vinegar, sharp acidity, some sweet blackcurrant. Decent balance even with the fairly sharp finish.

750mL bottle, pours a clear dark amber with a small white head. Aroma is acidic, perfumey, and drinking vinegar, with little funk or oak to speak of. Flavour is like drinking vinegar, plenty of acidity, and a touch of blackberry. What can I say about this? Nothing lambic-like whatsoever, just a lot of acidic drinking vinegar but less thick.

750ml @ Phill's (thx for the beer!) during Gene's visit. Brewed in 2017. Appearance: almost clear copper with a white head. Aroma: some funk and fruity notes, meh. Taste: very acidic, fermented out raspberries. Overall: not good.

Re-rate: Poured from 750mL bottle. Clear brownish orange with small off white head. This bottle didn't gush. Some yogurt notes on top of my original tasting notes. Feb 12, 2022 (7/3/8/3/15=3.6): Poured from 750mL bottle. Super active, gushing out. Hazy orangey brown with off white head. Blackberry, mild acidity. Better than expected.

Bottle bought at the brewery October 2019, that would make it... uh, 8 months old now? Or 9 months, like a baby? Not only a bottle cap but a cork under it just to test your skills if you're tweaked. Pours with pitch perfect foam on a deep ruby-brown body, dark copper even, soft carbonation with small bubbles. The aroma is wet and acidic malt, plenty of sweet blackberry, nothing too harsh and ultimately reminiscent of a good Rodenbach; still malty but definitely fruit coming through the shroud. Flavour is a huge dark malt hit of acidity with plenty of blackberry; lambic for sure, good deep maltiness balanced by fruitiness. Very tart finish, fine and earthy with dry wood notes rounding it out. I'm a big lambic fan and this gets many things right. Storm generally does well with this sort of thing and they've certainly done exceptionally well with this one.
