Intruder

This IPA blurs the boundaries of IPAs. Intruder is a medium-bodied beer with a hint of caramel sweetness and a dry finish. The bitterness is extracted from copious quantities of late-addition hops and it is extensively dry-hopped with Idaho 7, a new world hop that presents with punchy orange and key-lime aromatics.

473ml can. Pours a clear copper gold with a medium, foamy, long lasting, white head that leaves curtains of lace. Aroma of caramel malt, grapefruit and herbal hops. Sweet fruity flavour of caramel malt, tangerine, mango and piney hops in a dry, mild bitter finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Not bad, but a little timid for a Westie. Could use more punch.

Decent piney hop, gloppy malt, a bit biscuity, flat carbo doesn’t help. Mailed this one in.

Mostly green onion with some light peel. Golden pour with a little haze, decent lacing. Light hop tang finish and otherwise clean--not a ton of body here. Tap at Quail's Gate.

Can from Jak's, Granville South, Vancouver
Amber colour, cloudy, with medium head. Light pine and peppermint in the aroma. Good body strength, the mouthfeel is mostly dry; strange flavour, almost sourish, not getting particular vibes from the malt; strong bitterness, with some bitter orange peel and some piney resins. At least it's not sticky; overall, it's alright.

Clear dark gold with a decent white head. Pine and grapefruit. Pitter and pine with some sweet citrus. Very old school and quite solid.

Poured from 473mL can. Clear copper gold with full white head. Mild bready malt with very light pine hops. Fairly simplistic, but very drinkable.

On tap at Slackwater, pours a fairly clear copper orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out piney hops, gentle earthy notes, and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour reveals a nice west coast piney hop character, with a bit of vegetal character, and crisp bready malt. Piney and herbal hops on the finish, with low bitterness for the style. Good stuff.

Good foam on a semi-cloudy orange body, nice bright pine and pineapple aroma. Flavour is lots of bitter hops, pine, more pineapple. full mouthfeel, good oiliness. I can dig this.
