Our Hop Yard Sour is a true One-Mile, 100% local microflora beer – everything comes from our farm, including our own ‘Cone Surfer’ wild yeast, which our brewery team captured in our hop yards across the street.

Our new wild yeast, combined with our house made sourdough culture, brings a nice citrus and stone fruit pop to the Sour – exhibiting notes of grapefruit, orange and peach, with a touch of pine.

Slight haze, otherwise a bit dull. Tart up front, not a lot of hop for the name. A fairly straightforward lacto kettle thing. Doesn’t seem to really go anywhere.

On tap at Barnside, pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out yogurty notes and some harsh bitterness. Flavour is harsh and messy, with lots of yogurty notes, some gentle dry hopping, and a hint of fruitiness. Bit of manure too. Not a pleasant yeast profile. Lame.

Pours with a good cloudy yellow body and some small foam, smells of nice gose-like sourness with hop and citrus notes. Flavour is bright and citrusy just like a gose, with soft ripe orange hints. Mouthfeel has crisp carbonation and is refreshingly wet. This is decent indeed, more gose character than a straight ahead flavoured sour.
