(Bottle, 0.355 l - bottled on 02 Jan 18, from Alko, 20180512) The beer poured deep golden and clear. Its head was medium sized, white and it lasted long. Aroma had grass, pine, toffee and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, pine, toffee, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy, malty and bitter. A pleasant hoppy brew.

12oz can pours with a crystal clear pure gold body that supports an off white head of foam that leaves behind some spotty lacing. The aroma offers up a blend of grapefruit, tangelo and spicy earthy onions followed by a faint light malt note. The taste delivers a citrus onion sandwich with mildly juicy tangelo and clementine as well as bitter grapefruit and bitter spicy danky onion hoppiness. Into the finish a mild cracker like maltiness is noticed mingling with lingering bitter citrus hops. Nice

Ballast Point Fathom IPA 6% This was a Seijo Ishii find and was less than 500¥ which combined with the can format had me sold. Clear orange gold with a dense fluffy off-white head of foam it has a great hop bouquet featuring lots of fruits - more classic west coast ipa than juicy neipa but that’s fine. It smells mouthwatering. Light bodied with enough of a chewy malt mouthfeel to make it satisfying, the carbonation is relatively smooth with just a bit of raspiness. The taste has lots of hoppy goodness up front but after your sip the hops slowly fade away and you get some malty caramel sweetness at the back of your tongue. This beer really hit the spot and for Japan is decent value. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

An orange beer, a head is quite big and blond. Aroma has mild fruitness with mangos, some caramel and wood. Taste has more fruitness than in the aroma, but not very strongly, mangos, bitterness is evolving slowly. Medium bodied. Not enough of fruitness. Decent.

On tap at Ballast Point Little Italy, pours a clear copper blonde with a medium white head. Aroma brings out earthy notes and biscuity malt. Flavour is fairly dull, with light earthy hops, and dry bready malt. Flat and lacking much character. Doesn't taste particularly fresh. It's okay.
