sweet earthy malt nose. Sweet flavour, its and off beer. im getting some fruit like cherries, and dates in the finish, but the malt is lingering, quite complex for the style, a decent brew.

On tap at L’Amère à Boire. Aroma of sweet grains, with no pullback, lots of sugar oozing through. Has a little bit of foam head and a ruby brown body. Flavour is sweet molasses and chocolate icing. Dry finish. It’s not bad but missing detail.

On draught 6/3/2005 at the brewpub with tiggmtl, Muzzlehatch and Bret Kuhnhenn. Extremely auburn colored. Deep ruby highlights as well. Hazy. Still, with no carbonation and no head/lacing. Fruity and yeasty in the nose with caramel and chocolate notes. Melanoidins, says Bret. Flavor is chocolatey-sweet, vinous and has caramelized sugar undertones. Moderate carbonation on the palate. Dry caramel malt, concord grapes, chocolate graham crackers and biscuits. Heavy yeast retronasal. Medium body. This aint no maibock, but oh well.
