For this holiday season, we have brewed a special Dunkelweizen beer with a twist. Our Brewmaster has adapted this classic, filtered dark wheat beer into a unique festive beer. Brewed using 100% organic chocolate from the Whistler Chocolate Company, a blend of spices and a twist of orange zest. Delicious, complex malts and light citrus balancing notes present a soft hint of festive, seasonal flavours.

Draught at some poutine place at the Skytrain station. So maybe not the top beer bar in town. Terrys chocolate orange. Really artificial.

On tap. Pours a clear mahogany with a small, short lived, beige head that leaves spotty lacing. Sweet aroma of milk chocolate and orange. Sweet flavour of milk chocolate, toffee, roasted malt, orange and a hint of spice with a dry finish. Light body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. A novelty beer that borders on cloying.

Heavy chocolate and orange zest aroma with hints of coriander. Modest head and red body. Flavour is chocolatey orange, not bad in and of itself, but sadly too weak for this kind of beer. Lots of potential but a miss.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Clear copper colour with minimal white head. Very strong aroma of chocolate and orange (like Terry’s chocolate orange). Same flavour, but light and almost watery. Little body.

650 ml bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with little head. Very strong hot chocolate aroma with a little bit of orange peel. A reverse on the flavors; a strong citrus/orange/acidic burst to start followed by chocolate and malt middle, then maybe a hint of the dunkel. Interesting but really more of a candy based beverage than a beer.

Bottle from Toby’s on Commercial Dr, Vancouver
Dark mahogany color, with medium sized head. Immediate aroma of vanilla flavored chocolate, and a hint of oranges. Dry mouthfeel; very light flavor of roasted malt, with some more evident cheap chocolate and a touch of spices; ordinary bitterness in the final, with some traces of oranges.
I hope it was just a one time experiment. Drinkable and funny.
