Our Lager takes its inspiration from the German style of lager, Helles. Ours, like the first Helles beer that was brewed back in 1894, has a sweet, malty flavour balanced with a light aromatic hoppiness that makes it very refreshing. We use Naked Golden Oats to make our Lager. Naked Golden Oats are grown without husks so that even more sweetness and flavour can be extracted from the grains during brewing.

Lys gylden brun klarner fingerhøyt hvitt skum, lukter korn, honning noe røkt og vanilje. Smaker søtlig, fudge, trevirke og vanilje. Kjenner igjen innis særpreget. Medium fylde. Kort. Vaniljeslødme i avslutningen.

Bottled, thanks oh6gdx! Clear golden. Fruity nose. Mid sweet with light-medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Fruity and lightly bready. Low bitterness.

33 cl bottle @ home, BBE 11/2015
Aroma is somewhat mild with buttery tones and grainy malt. Flavour has toffee typical to English ales, butter, grainy malt and mild grassy hoppiness. Also some minerals in the finish. Feels ’warm’. Easy to drink. A pale lager with English twist.

Keg tap at Robert the Bruce (JDW), Dumfries. Light yellow with a circle of white head. Grain/cereal aroma... nothing else gets through. Passable lager bitterness with a sugary corn syrup note. Not very good at all...

Looks the business and is a solid if completely unremarkable lager. I’m not a huge fan of Innis and Gunn’s other beers I’ve tried but one thing I’d say in their favour is that they’re distinctive. This is drinkable but it’s just a standard lager.
