@home poured into a pint glass. Opaque deep dark brown colour, ruby hue, small frothy tan head, dissipating slowly, almost no lacing. Aroma: sweet malt, dark fruits, figs, raisins, some molasses, light roast, caramel, alcohol, liquorice. Taste: very smooth, light heavy sweet and light bitter, malty, caramel, Indonesian palm sugar, liquorice, dark chocolate, fortified wine, dark fruits, spicy notes, alcohol. Full-bodied, velvetty texture, alcohol well-hidden, soft carbonation, very smooth sweetbitter aftertaste, well-balanced, easy to drink, very tasty, rich and round, very good.

Taster. Dark brown, creamy foam. Aroma: esters, prunes, vanilla, figs and dates, caramelized banana, toffee, wine. Sweet taste: caramelized banana, candy, a little whiskey, soft, good.

Kees et Pohjala se sont donc mis à 2 pour nous faire un quad belge. Mais si les arômes sont pleins et intéressants, je n'ai pas retrouvé dans cette quadruple la vivacité nécessaire pour être une vraie bonne quadruple belge. Il est cependant chaleureux, mais ce manque de nervosité la fait tomber dans trop de douceur. Pourtant certains néerlandais à l'instar de l'abbaye de Notre-Dame de Koningshoeven, savent faire de très belles quad, nerveuse et avec une parfaite maîtrise de l'alcool. Le visuel est sur un brun limpide sans mousse. Le nez est appréciable, sur des arômes de raisin, candy, de prune et de caramel. L'attaque est sur des arômes francs, avec un alcool pourtant à 10,2 % manquant de vivacité. On retrouve les arômes présents au nez avec de légères épices. La deuxième bouche, sur une bonne corpulence, voit un alcool chaleureux mais toujours sans punch. L'arrière bouche et le final sont quant à eux davantage sur un alcool aux airs de grappa mais sans réelle vivacité. Le final retombe en plus très rapidement, quelque peu décevant. Pas mal, mais peut mieux faire.

Very dark brown colour with thin head. Aroma and flavour have an abundance of dark bittersweet caramel and sweet banana. Similar profile to La Trappe. Silky texture.

Can. Dark brown pour. Aroma of caramelised malt, raisin, figs, vanilla, oak, dates, molasses, caramel and yeast esters. Taste has boozy caramel, raisin, oaky vanilla, yeast, dates, figs, caramelised malt, molasses and hopbitters in the (boozy) finish. Good malty quad, reminds me of a thin rochefort.

Can shared. Opaque black color, virtually no head. Aroma and flavor are malts, some chocolate, lightly bitter and somewhat sweetish. Quite good this one.

Blik gedeelt door Roelzie1986, geprobeerd met Benzai en Keukeman. Het is een Donkerbruin bier met een rode gloed. Het heeft een moutige wat gebrande en rozijnen achtige geur. De smaak is moutig, fruitig en zoetig.
