Quite hazy, deep golden and straw coloured body with a smooth three to four centimetre all pure white head that fades to a light microfoamed single centimetre tall head a few seconds after pouring. Aroma of fresh cut grass, hay, flowers and a lot of bright lemon and orange-y citrus fruits with a ton of alpha acids noticeable towards the end and and a light dose of sugars as well. Medium-bodied; Assertive citrusey and floral hops dominate at first with a great alpha acid bite and bitterness from the 'old school' hops that show fresh cut grass as well and a good balance of malts right behind make this very well-balanced and still showing some light sugars towards the end. Aftertaste is rich and robust from a malt perspective at first, but the deep and very flavourful hops show through as well in a good way with just the alcohol and a bit of a cleanser-like astringency towards the end as anything that is less-than-perfect with this one. Overall, a very nice Imperial-ish IPA with a great 'old school' (read: bitter) hoppiness that shows the fresh cut grass yet citrusey hop notes that have a ton of alpha acids, but all of that on top of a great malt backbone make this very enjoyable throughout. Great to sample and well recommended if you can find this, especially fresh! I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from the Department of Beer and Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 12-June-2020 for US$2,51 sampled at my house here in Washington on 26-August-2020.

Old school West Coast DIPA done properly. Lots of mandarin and grapefruit. Pine and pith. Very hazy. HUGE levels of bitterness. Extremely flavourful. A little oxidisation is creeping in. Canned 01/05/2020 (5th May). James Clay Import.
