Deep ruby brown color, fair fizzy beige head, mostly diminishing. Aroma roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, caramel. Taste medium sweet and light bitter, roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, caramel, earthy notes, dryish sweetbitter aftertaste, bit bready. Not really a black IPA, more like a stout, a very nice beer anyway.

Uit een flesje bij Huub. Donkerbruin, caramel in geur en smaak. Zeker voor dit abv een goed bier.

Cask at Hogshead, Wolverhampton The original (and best) Peaky Blinders beer. Liquorice and milky coffee in the nose. Pours a very dark brown with a small cream head. In the mouth there are cherries and chocolate on top and hops and malt mixed underneath. Hops predominate in the finish. Reasonable. [Incidentally pump clip waid 4.4%, not 4.6% - are they dumbing down ? ]

Almost black with thin soapy head. Aroma and flavour have some dark treacle bittersweetness and sweet dried fruits.

Cask at the Station Hotel, Ipswich. Pours almost black with a small bubbly towards beige head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, hops and dried fruit. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Medium body, oily and watery texture, soft carbonation. Peaty nutty finish. Not especially impressed.
