Location: Draft at Flying Saucer - Houston, 5/12/14

Aroma: The nose is grapefruit and pine hops with a solid malt presence as well
Appearance: Pours a reddish-orange color with a decent sized beige head and good lacing
Flavor: The taste is pretty balanced, with a nice hoppy flavor and some good malt backing
Palate: The body is medium, with a clean, easy-drinking feel, and a smooth, mid-dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a very nice red IPA. No major issues for me. It had a really nice flavor and a good feel as well. I could drink a ton of this one.

12oz bottle pours with a clear copper body that supports a thin tan head. The aroma offers up citrusy hop notes and warm pineapple pieces as well as a smattering of peach. The taste begins with malt sweetened clementine, pineapple and peach hop fruitiness where there is a nice balance between hop flavor and bitterness. It dries out a tad into the finish as a modest resiny pine hop note comes to the surface amid the citrus and fruit like hops. Tasty easily approachable IPA.

I like the malt profile with a mildish hop bitterness. Easy drinker, for sure.

12 oz bottle. Aroma is doughy, citrusy, piney, caramel, trademark Odell earthiness, biscuity. Pours almost clear amber with tiny particulates floating around under a two-finger beige head with excellent retention; leaves some groovy lace. Taste starts out sweet and savory before turning lightly bitter. Creamy mouthfeel, medium body. Nice!

12 oz bottle into English pint. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a medium beige head that dissipates in a couple minutes; cobwebby lace is left on the glass. Aroma is very floral and fruity; strong in pine, too. Taste is bittersweet and smoky. Carbonation is medium, body is medium-full. Excellent.

Pours a clear copper-red, with smallish head. Aroma is floral-citrus, with some malt and grain mixed in. Flavor is very bitter-hops, with something almost like a coppery finish/aftertaste.

Pours an amber-gold, with nice-sized, lasting head. Strong floral and hop aroma--I wasn’t really expecting that! Flavor is of a good, strong IPA--nice combination of hop bite and citrus flavors, with quite a bitter finish to it. This one really surprised me--more IPA than amber ale.

Bottle @ home, picked up at RJ’s Fort Collins. Pours a clear burnt orange appearance with a cream colored head. Spruce / sappy piney, woody, somewhat resiny, dry caramel malty aroma that is pretty nice. Herbal, toasted caramel malty, quite dry, a bit doughy, herbal, slightly floral, resiny hoppy flavor with just a touch of citrus. Really nice how dry the beer is but I’m not completely crazy about the hops. They’re not necessarily overly bitter but just aren’t that interesting to me. Not a bad beer and certainly one I’ll likely drink 5-10 pints of on tap being that I live in Fort Collins, but I won’t probably be buying a six pack. St. Lupulin and Odell IPA both seem to have more character than this.

Tap @ Odells. Hazy dark red orane appearance with a creamy tan head. Quite piney hoppy nose on amber malts. Flavor again really shows the extra piney, earthy hoppiness from the dry hopping. There is a very nice amber malty body behind it however. Bitter piney finish.
