This So-Cal take on a traditional witbier honors Coronado’s main street, which is home to our brewpub and was once lined with orange trees. Bolstered by orange zest, coriander and orange blossom honey, it’s Belgium by way of Coronado. Expect a refreshing, light-bodied brew rife with citrus zing and a hint of earthy spice.

Pours hazy gold into a tulip. Bright white head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Wheat, honey and marshmallow aromas. Thin and prickly with marshmallow and coriander front to back.

12oz bottle, shared by one of my good friends. Poured a hazy golden orange color with a pretty substantial white head. Aroma is orange, orange juice, light spices, some touch of zest. Sweet malts. Flavor had a orange creamsicle character to it. Not super great, but pretty tasty and refreshing.

Tap at Burger Mania. Deep gold with a modest white head that dissipates fairly quickly. Aromas of orange marmalade, honey and some floral notes. Taste is more of the same. Sweet orange juice. Not a wit and not very good. Didn’t get any coriander. Meh.

Pours whitish, nice foam. Aroma has a bit of wheat and citrus. Quite simple wheat ale taste. Orange coming through but quite subtle. Could be juicier if you ask me. Overall easydrinking and nice wit. Bit of coriander.

650 ml bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy amber with light head. Aromas of orange potpourri and light toasted malts. Very little flavor. Thick malty water.

On tap at VCBW Festival, pours a cloudy golden yellow with a small white head. Nose is restrained, with oranges and wheat. Flavour is along the same lines, with light oranges and wheat. Crisp and grassy. Not very interesting. Weak wit.

This was poured into a mug.
The appearance was a hazy burnt orange color with a slim finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds leaving a glazing of lace roaming around the glass.
The smell had a nice sweet sticky orange and blended citrus rind. A light spice around the coriander helps to balance.
The taste took the orange and citrus to combine with the spice to develop a nice refreshing lead into the aftertaste and leave a wet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a fairly decent crisp sessionability about it. The carbonation was there but seemed to smooth out a light citrus rind bitterness over my tongue delicately.
Overall, this one was good. It’s a nice take on a witbier to have a nice orange flavor in it.

Tap at irreale. Light hazy golden, white lace. Low clayish aromatics, lightbodied, minuscule straw malt body, lacking volume, fruit and spice of the style. Disappointing

Keg at the taproom on the island, 13/11/14. Hazed golden orange with a moderate off white covering. Nose is orange squash, light spice, lemon peel, floral effect. Taste comprises straw, light orange, yeast esters, hint of bread, lemon rind, light spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok-ish for style but pretty so so overall.

From a party: Pours light yellow with white head. Aromas of honey, orange, and spice, but there is an earthy touch that is not characteristic of the style. Same with the taste. The earthiness and the spiciness give it a feel that differentiates this. That said, it was pretty good.
