This So-Cal take on a traditional witbier honors Coronado’s main street, which is home to our brewpub and was once lined with orange trees. Bolstered by orange zest, coriander and orange blossom honey, it’s Belgium by way of Coronado. Expect a refreshing, light-bodied brew rife with citrus zing and a hint of earthy spice.

Clear golden coloured body with a very light orange glow and a very thin, soapy white head - not too great looking. Aroma of oranges, curacao (just the peel), lemons, wheat and a bit of yeast - not too much going on, but definitely the citrus comes through. Medium-bodied; Assertive curacao notes up front with the strength of full oranges and a bigger malt than expected coupled with some more floral and herbal flavours as well. Aftertaste shows a big reliance on the orange and curacao flavours, but some deeper wheat, yeast and even bready malt shows through. Overall, a nice, if not light orange flavoured wit with some good flavours and pungency throughout. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington (Clarendon), Virginia on 04-May-2014 for US$2.29 sampled at home in Washington on 17-May-2014.

Poured from 355mL bottle. Hazy golden yellow with minimal white head. Aroma has a mild yeasty malt with a subtle hint of orange. Flavour is the same, quite muted overall. Not a lot going on here.

On draught at Brewers Coalition, 3/9/14
Lightly hazy, soft yellow body with a small white head that recedes to cover.
Mandarin oranges in the nose with light wheat nuttiness. Very low strength, nearly nonexistent.
In the mouth we have a very watery, very flavorless beer. Clean, for sure, but just tastes like a glass of seltzer water with orange pulp and orange rind steeped in it for about an hour. So not bad, but as far as a beer is concerned, quite lacking. Clean though...

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into glass. Pours translucent orange with medium/small white head. Aroma is light orange, medium body, medium carbonation, slightly syrupy texture, and thin small bubble lacing. Taste is over ripe orange, slightly astringent orange peel, graininess, off honey, and off finish. Fair amount of flavor, but just not very good.

Draft. Light golden body with a frothy, white head. Timid aroma of raw grain, spice, orange, herbs. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter and lightly acidic. Thin to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Dry finish. Taste of citrus, spice, fruit. Average.

Bottle @ home, purchased from Craftshack. Pours a bit hazy, golden orange appearance with a creamy, tan head. Incredibly floral, dandelion, honey, quite spicy aroma that I’m not completely sure I’m digging butt fuck it, I’ll give it a gosh darn 7/10. Big orange blossom, a bit herbal/woody, very herbal/floral, honey, sweet orange, tangy flavor. Not sure I enjoy this that much but not it’s horrible, just not my thing.
