This So-Cal take on a traditional witbier honors Coronado’s main street, which is home to our brewpub and was once lined with orange trees. Bolstered by orange zest, coriander and orange blossom honey, it’s Belgium by way of Coronado. Expect a refreshing, light-bodied brew rife with citrus zing and a hint of earthy spice.

Bomber pours fully opaque deep gold with brown-ish hues and white head. The aroma is sugary wheat, sweetened orange zest and cotton candy. The taste is pretty full with flavor giving up wheat notes and then becoming a bit tart from lemon like acidity for a moment or two. Then toward midway it becomes more banana, orange zest and cotton candy like.

Draft. A hazy golden beer with a white head. The aroma has notes of malt and oranges. The flavor is sweet with notes of honey and oranges, leading to a dry wheaty finish, where the orange and honey note lingers for a long time.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very cloudy mustard color with a medium sized foamy white head that produced some lacing. The aroma was strong orange, yeast, cola and coriander. The flavor was strong orange, coriander and cola with a light yeasty undertone and sweet and tart notes throughout. The finish was medium length orange and cola. Medium body. Odd but very nicely refreshing.

Hazy orange yellow like with a tiny white head. Aroma had plenty of orange from the orange slice put in it and hints yeast and wheat. Flavour had plenty of orange with hints of yeast, wheat and coriander. Finished sweet.

Served on draft at Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA, 6/3/10. First time I’ve had a beer with breakfast in a long while and it was sublime. Pours a very hazy orange color with a medium white head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is yeasty and lightly bready with strong citrus notes. The taste is big citrus, bitter hops and a spicy coriander finish. Medium bodied and refreshing. Quite nice.

Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow with a thin, large bubble white head. Bready, yeasty aroma with modest citrus and spice. Flavor is mostly sweet, with ripe, fermented orange and malt. Very faint hops in the end. Light bodied with fizzy carbonation. Not bad, but balance seems a little off.

first let me say this is certainly not on style. it is much more offensive than a whit and this should more likely be styled as a wheat ale. too offensive for wit. Gunk on bottom of bottle. light colored but not like a wit, more like a lighter hefe. smell is quite astringent hay. strong on initial taste, just as i suspected after tasting other coronado beer, over the top. good fizz which makes this drinkable to the wit lover. dissapointing, it needs more manners. not real friendly on the finish. Cannot hold a candle to wittikerke, hoegarden or east end wit. this beer is a result of what you get when you let an IPA or impy stout lover try to make a wit. its a sad day on ratebeer

Location: On tap at the Brewbup, 1/6/10

Aroma: The nose is honey, orange, wheat, and light spice
Appearance: Hazy golden color with a small white head
Flavor: Taste is mostly sweet: orange, honey, and wheat
Palate: Light-medium body, lively carbonation, pretty fresh
Overall Impression: This is a lively and fresh feeling orange wheat ale. It isn't a great beer, but it works pretty well for what it is aiming for. Nice enough beer, but not a great beer.

Pours very light and clear yellow with a white head. Light sweet orange, mild cleanser aroma, sweet malts, and some hopping. Orange in the flavor, it’s light though. Sweet citrus and malt, with not much in the way of hops. Sweet finish. A decent brew but not something I’d normally go for. (Draught at Dry Dock, Tokyo)
