An American-style black IPA with a malty taste that has overtones of chocolate. The citrus aroma comes from a blend of five aromatic hops: Citra, Cascade, Amarillo, Chinook and Mosaic to really enhance the overall balance, ending with a crisp bitter finish.

Bottle from the brewery online shop. Appearance - deep brown to black with a proportionate, off white head. Nose - roast, molasses but then also lime or lemon grass. Possibly even a little orange sweetness. Taste - again roast and lime come to the fore. Probably in more of a hoppy stout territory as opposed to absolutely on the money with the black IPA style. Palate - medium bodied, roasty middle and malty and hoppy finish. Overall - probably into hopped stout style but enjoyable beer.

Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival in KEGS. Cask. Almost clear deep brown beer, small cream colour head. Smooth malts, trace of cream. Mild dark toffee and a little dark chocolate. Mild hop spice in the mid. Finishes semi dry with spicy bitterness kicking in. Long bitter linger. Flavoursome and fairly well joined up.

Gravity cask at Elysian Winter Beer Festival 2015. Dark brown, translucent. Nice head from natural carbonation. Light aroma, bit of crystal malt and toast. While the hop may be absent in the aroma, it is abundant in the taste: bittersweet citrus with a bit of coffee and grass. Very bitterly hopped finish and aftertaste. Grows on me.
