Brewed mainly for bottling but some casks are available, a full mash mild with a range of complex malted barleys and good old-fashioned fuggle hops. Red Fox’s homage to the legendary beer of Sarah Hughes.

500ml bottle from the brewery. Poured a murky reddish brown with a short-lived, fizzy, off-white head. The aroma is grainy malt, light treacle toffee, red berry fruits. The flavour is moderate to light bitter, with a light, crisp, fruity, light hop bitter palate and a lingering floral hop bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

27/1/2020. Bottle bought direct from the brewery. Pours dark amber brown with an average size slightly frothy off-white to beige head. Aroma of dried fruit, toffee, malt, bread, stone fruit, touch of molasses and leather. Medium sweetness, light bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, average carbonation. Nice fruity finish with a light fruity tartness coming through. Enjoyed this.

Gravity cask at the Cambridge Winter Ales Festival 2016. Chestnut brown. Clear. Smells of leather, sarsaparilla and biltong. Tastes sweet/savoury, like sour cherries poured on top of a slightly burnt steak. Pleasantly full body. But there are quite a few issues with this recipe.

Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival, KEGS. Cask. Clear deep amber beer, small pale cream coloured head. Palate is dry and a little crisp. Smooth malt with light caramel. Nice fruits - candy fruits and dried fruits. Whisper of Coca Cola. Touch of vanilla. Finishes dry. A complex and tasty beer this but a tad dry.
