For our hopping regime we went with Cascade and Nuggets in the boiling addition. Centennials were added every 5 minutes for the last 30 minutes of the boil. We added Crystals into the whirlpool. Dry hopping was done in both the fermentor after primary fermentation and the bright tank. We used a mixture of Chinook, Nuggets, and Sterlings in the fermentors and whole leaf Centennials in the bright tank.

On tap @ the brew pub. Pours a beautiful golden color, hazy you cant see through it, with thick foamy head. The scent is floral and citrus. The taste is immediately hoppy and bitter yet it has a mellow smoothness in the aftertaste. I taste the grapefruit from the hops. hopheads would get a boner for this one! Not my style of beer and I still like it.

Hop Devil Grill 12oz ($3.25): Pours a white head over light copper body. Aroma is pure spruce and pine and other coniferous trees.... basically hops, hops and hops. Taste is very bitter, maybe even a little bit too much. The piny hops overwhelm most any other flavor in this beer. If you are attentive then perhaps you would notice the subtle sweet and fruity notes, but overall this beer is about hops and little else. Not bad, but a tad uninspired.

Wonderfully complex aroma of orange peel, pine, overripe grapefruit, bread, and even hints of fudge. Opaque amber with a large amount of floaties, medium yellow head, good lacing. Really dry, resinous, and quite bitter. Medium body, well carbonated. Resinous pine finish. Dried apricot and grapefruit peel flavor. I like hops as much as the next guy, but this was overkill. The IBUs must be off the charts. The IBUs may not be as high as Stone Urination, but unlike Urination, it’s a bit of a distraction in this one. Balance aside, this is still a good beer.

Bottle at SBWF. Hazy orange with a large white head. Aroma of citrus and pineapple. Good and refreshing taste, with a rather good balance. Really a pleasant beer to drink.

Cask@GBBF2010. Slightly hazy goldeny orange colour with a small white head. Aroma is bigtime fruity and floral hops along with mild sap. Flavour is quite much the same along with mild sweet malts and alcohol. Quite much a fruity hop juice with some alcohol in it. Nice stuff.

On tap at Stags Head. I had no idea tis was 9% abv until logging on to rate which says it hides alcohol well. taste is hoppy like a pine forest. some citrus, grass, and brown sugar as well. pretty darn tasty.

Bottle from GBBF 2010. Well it’s a double IPA alright. Hazy orange gold in the body and a thin off white head. Big dose of resiny hops on the aroma. Some sweetness in the mouth, but the malts are pretty well balanced. Alcohol is present and a little bit boozy, just a touch of heat. Decent hops on finish. Best thing about the beer is the aroma which is lovely for me. The mouthfeel is ok, but the alcohol is too obvious. Lots of burn on the finish. Yes, starts well and then fades into alcohol burn.

Cask at GBBF 2010. An amber/orange coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Nice US hoppy aroma. Tastes malty, hoppy, citrus fruit, spice, tropical fruit, orange, caramel, sweet. Really complex. An excellent DIPA.
