The intro to our 10th Anniversary rewind - and perhaps one of our most formative brews - is a botanical saison dubbed “of Love & Regret”. The first batch was produced in the small town of Beerzel, Belgium in 2010.
Meant to evoke the delicate aromas of Spring, this beer was a tribute to the changing nature of the seasons, during what was a rather
transformative season in Brian’s own life. This was the first beer we crafted overseas - the experience of which would shape the model we would follow for years to come - eventually leading to the production of Stillwater beers & collaborations in over 30 countries.
Soft malts, herbaceous hops, & fragrant botanicals come together in an elegant ode to the bittersweet passage of time.

Bottle from Bo Brooks’ Lighthouse Liquors, Baltimore. Clear gold, with a thin, white, head and slight carbonation. Lavender, camomile and floral hop aroma. Sweetish, heather honey, herb and lavender flavours leading to a gentle finish. A lot going on, but well-integrated.

Draught @ Fermentoren, Århus. Pours lightly hazy golden with a creamy white head. Aroma of light bready malt, yeast, spice, pepper, cinnamon, herbs, light fruit. Flavor is malt, yeast, spice, herbal, fruity. Medium body, lively carbonation. 191014

Very nice drinkable Belgian beer. Definitely can taste the lavender. Great balance. Pours gold with good head and lacing. Tap at love and regret.

Keg at Indyman Beer Festival; clear golden yellow pour with a thin white head, yeast and fruit aroma, taste has bitter lemon along with spice.

On tap at magnolias at the mill in purceville it is a clear Holden color with a slight head. The aroma is of yeast and the taste is sweet and then goes into a root beer flavor that finishes bitter sweet

On draft at Magnolias at the Mill. Pours a a clear gold with an off white head. Aroma of cloves and allspice. Herbal flavors. Slight bitter finish.

Love and regret is much more about regret, than any type of love. Wayyy over spiced like an amateur brewery trying to be big and hardcore. Sure the underlying beer ain’t bad, but when you are this over the top. No one cares.

Bottle - hazy gold with pretty much no head/lace - nose is heavy with the adjuncts used, especially the chamomile and lavender - there is also some dusty yeast and moderate phenolics, lint musk - flavor is very sweet and heavy on the chamomile, with some dandelion as well - tastes like sweet herbal tea, really - strong honey flavors throughout - some grassy hops arrive late, along with moderate saison yeast rustic character, some dusty, earthiness - kind of disappointing.
