Import Series Vol. 1 Belgian Saison Ale - For the first edition of the Stillwater Import Series I traveled to the village of Beerzel, located in the Antwerp province of Belgium. Here I teamed up with brewmaster Jef Goetelen to craft an authentic Belgian version of my liquid interpretation of the Spring season. A recipe originally contrived a few years prior as a collaboration brew with my good friend Paul Kretzer. The base is German barley & wheat, with a touch of Belgian aromatic; accented with grassy hops and an array of spring botanicals (heather, chamomile, lavender, & dandelion). Like a fresh meadow in spring.

Backlog June 2017. Pale golden body under a dense off-white head. Nice and complex aroma, fruity with herbs and spices. Taste is sweet malt, generic fruity, various spices and a floral touch. Both nice and exiting.

Bottle. Could have sworn I had rated this before. Amber colour, aroma green pesto, bit boozy. Very nice though. Taste is light citrus and pesto. Weird and nice

Bottle. Orange color, cloudy. Orange peels, lemon, flowers, honey and coreander in the aroma. Sweetish flavor with coreander, mint, orange peels, lemon and lavender. Well balanced, in spite of the spices.

12 oz bottle. Bottled in 2015. Pours a clear amber with lots of carbonation and moderate head. Aromas of burnt banana, dry citrus, and wheaty malts. Flavors follow same with additional potpourri/floral contributions. Tasty for the age.
