Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Yay, an East Yorkshire rate! Deep ruby-black with a beige head and a light fizz - in very decent nick thanks. Coffee up front, with liquorice and blackcurrant coming through quite strongly. The roasted malt bitterness is perhaps a tad on the harsh side, but otherwise it's a decent stout with a drying finish.

11/5/2019. Bottle direct from the Brewery. Pours very dark brown with a lasting beige head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, liquorice, toffee and dried fruit. Medium sweetness with moderate roasted bitterness. Medium body, slightly oily texture, average carbonation. Nice, traditional, quite light, very drinkable.
