Pour is a dark red with a large tan head. Aroma is a minor roasted malt but enough to up the rating. Flavor is more of a bland pale lager. It’s kind weird with the color but it has that same grainy, wet paper bag that a regular euro lager has. Maybe a little more body then a pale lager.

Deep brown with a creamy light brown head. Roasted malt but with a medium profile that let some coffee notes come through.

17/08 Draught at the BBF 2011. It poured clear dark brown body with smaller brownish head. Typical weaker coffee and caramel aroma. Flavor is pretty expected, caramel and coffee, but watery, thinner in body. Finish had some fine sweetish coffee notes, but was short and it didn’t help much on this beer. I actually did find it balanced but still uninteresting.

swing top bottle 500ml. -from Sörspecialista.hu, Budapest.
Dark red/brown coloured, small off-white head, dry and slight vinous roasty nose. Roasted malt, mild caramel and burnt sugar with mild touch of hops. Rather watery finish. Pretty unbalanced beer.

Leikeim Schwarzes, courtesy of ogivlado who got it in Budapest and shared with me (thanks!) Poured a very dark brown body, almost black (yay, true to style), small off white head that went away slowly. Dry nose, woody, some rice, slightly soapy. Odd dry taste, some beet and chocolate mixing. Generally empty, watery, slightly soapy. Not a good Schwarzbier.

50cl Swingtop bottle from De Bierkoning. Clear dark reddish brown colour, light beige head. Aroma of light sour dark fruits and light smoked malts, caramel. Flavour is light sweet, roasted malts, a bit of stale coffee, watery metallic bitter finish which spoils it a bit for me. Coffee stays on the tongue. Light bodied. Not great.
