Bottle from B&M, Ipswich. Pale golden coloured beer, with a small white head. Quite sweet, malty aroma. Average carbonation. OK for a ’cheapy’.

Bottles of this have found their way to a cut price supermarket chain in the UK: 69 Pence (about a dollar) for 330ml worth. I poured my bottle into a ’Back Forty Beer Co’ glass to make it feel at home (kind of) on 9th Jan 2014. Very pale golden/straw coloured body, clean and clear, the white head left before it arrived to leave a white collar and a little wisp on the surface. If this is their Premium beer I’m not too sure I’d like their regular brew. Although to be fair this isn’t a bad lager, it’s just a bit thin on character and flavourings. Refreshing without testing your taste buds or other senses too greatly. The nose was semi-sweet and slightly grainy, the taste followed in that vein, being pretty sweet: where did the hops go? Pleased it popped up in Shropshire, but I’ll not be rushing off back to the shop for any more.

33cl bottle from Budgens Islington drunk at Shitty Beer Night 2013. Now I had the Huber Bock a few weeks ago and found it reasonably pleasant so I had high hopes for this. Appearance - Classic pale gold colour with a lasting thin white head. 3/5 Aroma - Horrific. Vegetal. Cabbage. Actually more like really strong harsh dark green spring greens. If you strain your olfactory senses really hard you get a bit of creamy lemon. 3/10 Flavour - well it’s not as bad as the Alhambra Especial. Initial flavour of not much, some vague lemon and metal that fades into vegetables, mostly green cabbage with the metal running throughout. Seriously do people drink this for any kind of pleasure? 3/10 Palate - just about the only good thing, a nice creamy carbonation 3/5 Overall - well better than the Alhambra, even some lemon on the finish. No real hop presence. the creamy carbonation is the best thing here. 6/10

Bottle 35,5 cl. Pours a clear golden with a white head. Aroma is sweet malt but also somewhat skunky and oxidized. Medium body, very sweet - as in artificial sweeteners - decently malty but hardly any hops. Not totally fresh I guess but actually has more of a malty feel than your standard US Pale ALger. 210113

Draft @ Minhas. Not a bad beer really. Your typical pale lager though. Corn, grains and not a lot going on. A little sweeter than I expected. Very sessionable.
