'Mellow Velo' has returned for CAMRA's 'Mild Month'. Brewed using four blends of malted barley and wheat to pedal a rich, dark colour. While a single English hop variety provides the mellow bitterness free-wheeling to a hint of honey and spice at the finish line.

Cask at PoW, Farnborough. Chocolate and malt aroma. Dark and glossy appearance, a cola brown on closer study. Thin white head soon ebbed away to some lonely single bubbles. Sweet with a sour seam. Chocolate and berries. Medium bodied. Creamy. Flat carbonation. Long astringent finish. Had it a while ago and remembered enjoying it. A sour element I'd forgotten about but a decent mild with a tang and pleasant palate.

Cask at the Rose & Crown, Sandhurst. An opaque black pour with a ring of beige head, and a pleasant cherry red gleam when held to the light; somewhat oaty aroma; and a smooth milky body with a soft oaty grain taste; then some sweet rusk to finish. A pleasant mild, but not as fruity as I’d like.

Cask at Reading Beer Festival. First one at the fest, and my first from this new Berkshire brewery. It’s dark brown. It tastes sour, bitter, and earthy. Some malt behind this, but frankly it’s a bit unpleasant. Not sure it’s meant to taste like this? Poor start to the fest.
