Unser BrewBQ #1 Smoky IPA schimmert fuchsig-rot mit leichter Trübung im Glas und erinnert schon rein farblich an BBQ. Die Nase umspielen sehr intensive Beerennoten nach Himbeere und Erdbeeren. Ein Hauch von Zitrusfrüchten gesellt sich dazu und auch die grilltypische Rauchnote ist vorhanden, hält sich aber dezent im Hintergrund. Den Duft in der Nase und das von Don Caruso mitgestaltete Etikett vor Augen, lässt den Genießer sofort an laue Sommerabende vor dem Grill denken.

Fläschla: Hazy, deep golden, creamy and stable off-white head, more toasty than smoky-malty nose, blended with mainly citrussy and mild herbal hops; moderate to dryish bitter-sweet flavour, soft and not too light bodied; lingering toasty-malty finish, increasing hoppiness and more smoke in the aftertaste. Odd combination, but unexpectedly pretty well drinkable...

Flasche 0,33l: Dunkles Bernstein, Kupfer, leichte Trübung, kräftiger stabiler mittelporiger Schaum; leicht fruchtige + rauchige Nase, leichte würzige Süße, dunkle Früchte, frische Hopfennoten, eher trocken, Rauchmalz, Getreide, kräftige Hefearomen, malzig-würzige Bitterkeit; fruchtiger + würziger Körper, leichte Zitrusnoten, frische Hopfennoten, dunkle Früchte, Grapefruit, leichte fruchtige Säure, etwas Pinie, Malz, Getreide, cremig, kräftige Kohlensäure, kräftige Hefearomen; angenehmer fruchtig-würziger Nachgang

Angenehm hopfiger Beginn, trocken, angenehme milde Bitterkeit. Dazwischen dezent rauchig, was sich mit der Zeit steigert, spritzig, das Aromenverhältnis Hopfen zu Rauchigkeit dreht sich. Malzig rauchiger, leicht süßer Abgang. Noch fein hopfig. Gut! 11/10/12/11/11/11

0.33 l bottle from 'Bierothek' (Dortmund), best before December 2020. Clear, deep reddish amber with a large, dense, stable, beige head. Sweetish, quite smoky, gently fruity and a little resiny aroma of smoked eel, tropical fruits and a touch of pine. Slightly sweet, moderately, gently fruity, slightly smoky and a bit resiny taste of orange jam, mango, grapefruit and some smoked eel, followed by a short, gently bitter, quite smoky and a bit resiny finish. Medium body, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Haven't had a smoked IPA for quite a while although I like the style. The smoke in this one fades relatively quickly, could be more intense overall but I still dig it.
