A distinctively dark beer, brewed with roasted barley and chocolate malts to create a full bodied stout. Complex flavours with deep coffee and roasted nut characteristics. A proper stout.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - dark brown to black and opaque. Fawn head. Nose - creamy chocolate and malt loaf. Taste - creamy chocolate with raisins this time. Still a bit malty loaf. Palate - light bodied, a little thin for the style, but good roasty finish. Overall - quite good.

Cask at PoW, Farnborough. Coffee berry aroma. Dark cola brown. Frothy beige head. Light bitter with a sour berry streak. Liqourice comes through into the finish. Medium bodied. Slick with some creaminess to it. Flat carbonation. Long astringent finish. Better than I was expecting.

Cask at the brewery tap. Pours mahogany brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, light smoked meat, dried fruits, nut and caramel. Moderate sweetness, medium roasted bitterness. Moderate body, slight watery texture, soft to flat carbonation. Sweeter finish developing.

(Cask at Southampton Arms, Kentish Town, London, 24 Nov 2011) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with chocolate, dark bread, roasted malt and coffee. Roasted, malty taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, dark bread and a gentle bitterness in a dry finish. Medium body, smooth and well balanced mouthfeel. Nice and highly drinkable.

Cask in London, not positive where, but maybe Craft Beer Co. Pours dark brown with a small head. Tangy dark malt nose. Mildly roasty flavor with light sweetness and faint tobacco. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Slightly tangy finish with moderate roast, light sugar, light tobacco, and earth. Decent at best.
