Berghoeve´s bier “1502 India Rye Ale” staat centraal in de ABT-cafés door heel Nederland!
Eind vorig jaar zijn we benaderd door een vertegenwoordiging van de ABT-cafés.
Zij hadden besloten om maandelijks een flesbier centraal te stellen van één van de microbrouwerijen uit Nederland. Zij stelden daarbij wel de eis dat deze microbrouwerijen vernieuwend zijn en hiervoor een nieuw bier ontwikkelen. Nou dan ben je bij ons aan het juiste adres!
Wij zijn gevraagd om voor de maand maart een bier in te dienen en dat doen we natuurlijk met plezier. We hebben een India Rye Ale ontwikkeld. Een IPA op basis van gerst en rogge en een flinke dosis hop. In dit geval Amerikaanse Centennial hop. Deze hop staat bekend om zijn fijne citrusgeur. De rogge geeft het bier een zeer fijne kruidigheid, bijna peperig. De India Rye Ale bevat slechts 4% alcohol en daarmee is het een zeer prettig, maar gevaarlijk doordrinkbaar bier geworden.
Dit bier kon mooi uitgebracht worden onder de “Berghoeve Brewlab Serie” en daarmee is het al het tweede bier dat we dit jaar uitbrengen. Het eerste was onze “1501 Coffee Stout” en dit wordt de “1502 India Rye Ale”.
Na deze maand zijn we vrij om dit bier ook aan anderen te verkopen, maar dat gaat helaas beperkt lukken, want 95% van het brouwsel is al door de ABT cafés afgenomen.
Dat noemen wij een luxeprobleem….
Voor ons is daarmee de lente in ieder geval al begonnen! Spring is in the air!

Bottle. Pale amber color. Orange, melon and rye bread in the aroma. Firm floral hopbitter flavor with orange, melon and rye bread. Sweetish, very tasty. medium bodied. White pepper in the aftertaste. Good!

Bottled. hazy orange colour, small off-white head. Aroma is yeast, sweet malts, glue and alcohol. Flavour is fruity, sweet malts, some oxidised notes with glueish alcohol.

Bottle 330ml (tnx bierkoning). Murky brown color, small white head. Ryeish, grassy and cardboardish aroma. Medium-bodied. Harsh, grassy, some ryeish malts, hops. Yeasty and messy.

Deep amber, hazy body, with a quite small, creamy off-white head.
Aroma of grapefruit, orange, peach, lemon candy.
Taste is quite light, with citrus, orange, tangerine, some peach, candy.
Medium, slick mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes soft, moderate bitter, citric, fruity, sweet malty.
Very nice for this ABV. Quite light of course, but fresh, fruity and crisp, with quite a lot of hops.

bottle at home as part of European Local Swap form RW80, many thanks Robert. amber cloudy color. small white head. smells grapefruity, parfume, some grains and spices, oranges. interesting smell, but does not totally convince me. light body, soft carbonation, light watery mouthfeel. tastes citric, spices, grains, oranges, light grapefruity, grass & pines. herbal bitter finish. interesting one, body is almost a bit too light, but with subsequent sips it grows on me, grains a bit too present for my liking though.

On tap at Bierfestival Groningen 2015.Dark orange and light unclear in the glass. Very small head. Taste is light malty, dry and due to the low alcohol not very complex. But a nice one.

Bottle @ Bar Becoloth, Boxtel. Hazy orange color, average sized off-white head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is malts, rye is quite strongly present, nice hops, grapefruit. Taste lightly malts, rye, hops, slightly grapefruit, softly bitter. Nice easy drinkable hoppy "rye-p-a". Well done.

Bottled @ Weeshuis Schiedam, large sample. Cloudy amber color, short frothy head. Aroma is quite fruity of grapefruit and citrus, some cookie and biscuit. Soft sweet in taste, slight bitter. Quite smooth session IPAish with some sweet cookie and biscuit notes. Easy drinker. Nice.
