Keg at Beer Emporium. It pours hazy deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is caramel, wood, leather, toasted sugar, fruit cake and light spice. The taste is smooth, caramel, sour fruits, dried berry, wood, leather and spice with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Smooth, drinkable and balanced. Decent.

Hazy brown beer, good off white head. Crispy palate, semi dry. Semi sweet malts, thin and a little dry. Mellow ginger and a trace of lactose. Finishes dry. It’s okay but not floating my boat.

Bottle at ChrisO tasting, thanks to Fergus, 30/12/12. Hazed dark amber with a thin off white head that clears. Nose is dark malt, fruit, spice. Taste comprises much of the same. Medium bodied, slightly on the thin side, some spice and bitterness in the finish. Very average, certainly the lowest scoring and dullest beer I’ve had from BBF.
