Tsjeeses was brewed for the first time in 2004 but not under that name because we didn’t find a name yet. Different code names like "Dangerous Blonde”, “New Years Blond” were used in 2004 and 2005. While brewing the same beer in 2006, our team got so hit by the beer, at a certain point, somebody said: “Tsjeeses what a great beer”. This batch was bourbon barrel aged.

Appearance: Dark brown, some light tan head.
Aroma: Lots of dark fruits, prunes, some dark malt.
Taste: Dark fruits, prunes, slight dark malt. Not too much barrel. Nice.

Sampled at vcbf 2017. Thnx for sharing, Tim and Eugene! Pours unclear amber, no real head. Smell is super-intense vanilla bourbon. Taste is smooth, booze, grains, vanilla-oakm not bad at all, but for tsjeeses, I always seem to prefer the basebeer.

Thank you kraddel & tderoeck! Sampled draft @ VCBF 2017. Dark amber orange with no head. Nose is perfect sweet oxidation, cereal, caramel, honey, oxidized orange & all the sweet bourbon you want. Taste is wonderful oxidation, toffee, caramel, sugar, oxidized orange peel, sugar, candy & more bourbon than you can shake a stick at. Oxidized, near flat syrup. I adored it, bourbon oxidation sugar candy, objectively maybe not the best beer but subjectively here, here the modern day Struise style fully works for me.

On tap (2014 Marker’s Mark) at TCBW, Tallinn. Slightly hazy amber with a b off-white head. Rather fruity and vinous aroma with mild bourbon notes, wood, hints spices and alcohol. Fairly sweet, but some acidity notes and tannins. A bit too much on the sweet side, but quite enjoyable.

Draught @ Tallinn Craft Beer Weekend 2017. Pours dark reddish orange with a smooth bubbly head. Aroma of bourbon, malts, caramel, toffee, syrup and berries. Taste is malty, sweetish and caramely with some bourbon, berries, wood, oak and toffee. Finish is smooth, sweetish and slightly malty with hints of bourbon, wood and oak. Heavy and sweet.
