Compulsion will drive you to distraction. While most of us are happy languishing in the comfort of predictability, there are a select few who are restless. They spend their days trying desperately to hide an urgent need to disrupt this culture of mindless repetition, but their desire to maintain appearances is ultimately overshadowed by their fascinations.

Get ready to challenge what you think about dark beer. This black IPA is a calculated anomaly. It looks big and scary like a stout, but it drinks like an IPA. Close your eyes, you’ll never guess how far into the dark you’re sinking. With its fresh hop aroma and roasted malt flavour, Disruption is a whole new beast.

Nice big dense foam, okay darker brown body with carbonation hints. Good IPA aroma with plenty of peach and grapefruit on the nose. Flavour is a nice mix between fruity IPA with some darker malt hints backing it up. Rather oily mouthfeel but it works here. This is well made and quite enjoyable.

650ml bottle. Pours a hazy dark brown with a reddish hue and a huge, frothy, long lasting, beige head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, grapefruit, pine and wood. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, pine and wood with a dry, bitter, hop resin finish. Medium to full body with a smooth, creamy, oily texture and average carbonation. Well balanced and delicious. Nicely done.

Bottle from NB Liquor. Dark burgundy under a large lingering khaki head that leaves tons of lace. Nose is dark chocolate and resin with some vanilla, coffee and roasted nuts. Enough sweetness to support a medium+ chocolate bitterness. Medium creamy mouth with average carbonation and a lingering bitter finish. Flavourful.

Tasting at Matt’s
Black color, small head. The aroma presents both the roasted malt and the hops. The mouthfeel is full, not too dry, not too sweet; powerful roasted malt and hop presence, resiny.
A good back bomb.
