Barrel aged and dry-hopped sour ale intended as a 'Viking' beer, created by Vanmol at Alvinne. Bottle ordered from the brewery. Medium thick, cobweb-lacing, egg-white, opening head leaving an irregular mousy ring and 'veils' in the middle; cloudy apricot blonde robe with pale orangey tinge. Aroma of overripe pear, mango chutney, wet oak wood, vague chicken soup touch, fresh basil leaf, melting butter, lemon thyme, fermenting apple juice, yoghurt, yellow raspberries, raw potatoes, sweat, cloves. Very estery, sweet-and-sour onset, breathing 'Alvinne' all the way through, offering impressions of mango chutney and ripe pear again, lots of yellow plum, gooseberry and rhubarb compote, medium carbonated with a creamy, bit buttery mouthfeel; white-bready core, sweetish but dried by mild yet consistent lactic tartness and fruity, plum- and grape-like effects, vibrant and pleasant, teaming up with herbal notes of basil, lemon vervain, lemongrass and thyme in the end. Soft tannic woodiness binds everything together without overpowering too much, while a lime-zesty effect from the dry-hopping elegantly mingles with the estery fruitiness, one never overruling the other too much. Alvinne style through and through, interesting and quite refined, but with that name on the label, it could hardly go wrong. Enjoyed this one, would happily revisit it. --- Beer merged from original tick of (collab with) Alvinne Nørse Man on 26 Dec 2020 at 14:24 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 8.5. 4/X/20 - 75cl bottle @ Norseman Launch Dinner at Villa Florazicht (Merelbeke), BB: n/a (2020-958)

Pretty clear orange blond beer, small irregular creamy white head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: very spicy, some cardamom, bit sourish, passion fruit, bit malty. MF: ok to lively carbon, medium body. Taste: very sourish start, passion fruits, bit malty, pretty bitter, grains, spicy touch. Aftertaste: more bitterness, fruity, mainly passion fruits, spicy touch, still pretty acidic.

Pours unclear yellow, small to no head. Smell is citrussy, tart, mild oak. Surprisingly mild on DMS (though present) . Taste is sharp, mild DMS, oaky, alvinne microflora are recognizable indeed. Medium mild tartness. Pineapple, bit to the thin side perhaps. medium carbo. Nice and unique for sure.

Draught Almost no head over fully hazy orangejuice-coloured beer. Sourish nose, but with sweet notes as if raspberries were involved, and even a dash of fresh orangejuice. Sharp-ish to sharp flavour, sour fruit. Hint at diary. No juniper, which surprises me. Citrus (again as orangejuice), and some yeastfeatures. Lipsmacking acidity, dry-out effect, light body, long-lasting flavours. Well worth all the trouble searching it. Great achievement.
