A Scotch ale made using roasted malt, pale ale malt and wheat.
Matured over lightly toasted black cherrywood chips that add resinous, spicy, woody notes – no vanilla notes typical of oak-ageing.
Maple syrup is added post maturation when the beer is in cold conditioning.
This will be kegged for Canada and the US.

Golden brown, no head. Sweet, no bitterness, slight toffee, and then the wood is mellow.

Cherry, oak, malt & berry tastes with a tangy finish.
Nice but one's enough.

500ml (thx, Renny!) @ Ryan's on his 39th celebration.
Aroma: caramel malt, some wood notes.
Taste: along the same lines, watery.
Overall: meh, as usual.

500mL bottle. Pours clear brown with a white head. Gentle brown bread malts and some brown sugar on the nose. Flavour has thin bready malts and some dry smokey wood. It's okay, but pretty timid.

Draught from the city centre taproom, Glasgow. Brownish red, translucent with a small beige ring of head and uneven lacing. Woody, rye-spicy aroma. Sweet taste with sweet spice, white pepper, and a dry finish with a medicinal bitterness. Very heavy carbonation. Nice to find an Innis & Gunn I like well enough although it is a bit one dimensional.

Bottle from the lcbo. Clear amber pour, small beige head. Faint butter aroma, light oak, some vanilla and caramel malts. Light hints of toffee in the finish, some solid bread malts. Light hops, and more wood, with the typical butter innis finish. Not bad.

Huge thanks to Erzengel for sharing! Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass dark brown, small head. Dry malty aroma. Starts sweetish-malty, notes of some sweets. Also some herbal notes. Finish well balanced, sweetish-malty, a bit warming. Interesting.

Woody fruity nose. The beer starts mild and woody. Hints of sweetness there, refreshing with a fruity deep aftertaste. Malt, round and rich, woody with a slightly sweetish woody aftertaste. Nice.
