St.Bernardus Tokyo Sounds familiar? You are quite right, because in 2012 we launched a one-off brew on the occasion of the opening of the first St.Bernardus-themed café in the Japanese capital. Eight years later, you can sample our St.Bernardus Tokyo again, albeit with a new recipe!
The young Belgian illustrator Jonas Devacht created the artwork for the can, which consists of an impression of Japanese nightlife in the iconic streets of Kanda district, where you can find ‘Brasserie St.Bernardus’.
St.Bernardus Tokyo is an unfiltered ale, which has been brewed with a large amount of wheat, holding the middle between a white beer and a saison.
Character, taste, aromas
St.Bernardus Tokyo is famed for its hints of citrus, combined with likeable florals of chamomile and fruity yeast aromas of banana and red apple. Attentive beer fans may also detect a hint of clove and vanilla, as well as the typical esters of our unique St.Bernardus yeast. A refreshing beer with a spicy aroma and a slight hint of bitterness and sourness on the back of the palate! A real treat for the more adventurous beer fan.

Can from HoTM. It pours lightly hazy golden with a foamy white head. The aroma is fragrant, straw, banana split, spicy, clove rock, cola cubes, doughy white bread, grass, floral, apple and some underlying sweetness. The taste is dry, light bitterness, quite sweet, foamy banana candy, banana split, marshmallow, warming spice, clove, grass, floral, apple, red pear and a nip of booze with a drying, spiced finish. Medium body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Quite a bit to it. A nice example of the style.

Tijd geleden dat ik witbier op heb. Eigenlijk best lekker in de zomer. Kamille in de geur, koriander in de smaak. Mag van mij altijd meer de citrus kant op, maar kamille is een aardig alternatief

17/VII/20 - 33cl can from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte), shared @ home, BB: 9/VI/20, L0161 11 19 (2020-642)
Clear pale blond beer, small creamy white head, stable, bit adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: lots and lots of ripe banana, sugary, bubble gum, overripe banana, bit sickening, not super good. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: lots and lots of overripe banana, very phenolic, bit sugary, spicy touch, bit malty. No acidity though, where’s the wheat? Aftertaste: pretty sweet, malty touch, overripe banana, sugary, some fennel and aniseed.

Can from Dranken Pede. Hazy yellow colour, white foam. Nose of citrus, fruity (pear, peach) a bit perfumy, some wheaty notes. Taste is rather sweet, light tartness, some spices.
