Pours black and thick with a thin brown head. Roasted malt, cocoa, sweet red bean comes through as it warms and light coconut. Mouth is heavy and a bit grainy. Finish is long and bittersweet. The Bean really lingers in the finish. An interesting beer that can’t figure out what it wants to be. Is it a low-abv imperial stout like the body suggests? is it a pastry stout like the label implies? Neither the red bean nor the coconut play as big a role as I had expected and was looking for. Yet, it’s a tasty, big beer.

Bottle share. Dark brown, thin head. Nose is coconut, azuji sweet red beans, coffee, light chocolate. Body is rather light. Sweet flavor of coconut anpan with chocolate, lactose, coffee notes. Not overly sweet. Definitely not my thing but not bad.
