AB:16, our latest concept beer, is a smooth and luxuriant Belgian Quad infused with coffee beans. On the nose you might find warming clove and nutmeg, cafe au lait, subtle dark fruit notes, and hints of candied lemon peel.
The combination of aromas evokes malt loaf or ginger cake. On the palate, smooth & fruity espresso, milk chocolate, and warm brandy-soaked currants are in the middle of a high-class dance-off off against the spicy and peppery Belgian character. the mouthfeel is smooth and rich, and the beer pours a deep copper colour.
Malts:Extra pale, munich, crystal, chocolate, wheat
Hops:Waimea, Saaz, Fuggles

Pours hazy reddish brown with a small off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, grain, caramel and alcohol. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long warm, grainy, caramel and malty finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle, 375ml corked. A hazy, chestnut colored beer topped by a dense, beige head of very moderate size. The aroma is quite grainy, with coffee grit, rye bread, blue plums and some dried fruits. It’s full-bodied, warming and softly carbonated, with flavors of roasted malts and rye bread, Coffee, dark chocolate and coffee grit. Lasting malt dominated finish. Quite nice this one, but I’m not impressed. 150814

Bottle, 10.6%. Hazy dark brown/red with tiny tan head. Aroma is malt, caramel, toasted, oak, vanilla, bread and dark fruit. Flavour is malt, caramel, sweet, oak, wood, little vanilla, hop, dark fruits, toasted wood and a little bitter.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks Stas & Max. Deep amber-brown. Aroma of caramel, cardboard, dark fruits and alcohol. Sweet flavor with caramel, dark fruits, cardboard and alcohol. Medium-bodied. Not my thing.

Bottle shared in NYC. Pours mostly clear with a creamy tan head. Rich bready malts in the nose, some vanilla, chocolate, figs. Medium sweet flavor with lots of liquefied dark fruits, creamy toffee, mellow cocoa, toffee. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation; slightly chewy. Sugary finish, some burnt grains, more figs, raisins, bread, toffee. Quite rich but not cloying. Fairly drinkable.

[ As BrewDog Abstrakt AB:16 ].Clear medium to dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, sweet riped fruit, candy, moderate to heavy yeasty, sweet chili fruit, brown sugar. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, brown sugar, candy, fruity, chocolate notes, chili fruit notes. Body is medium full to medium, texture is creamy, carbonation is flat. [20140807]
