Can: pours reddish brown with small head. Aroma is cherry, vinegar. Taste is lightly sour. Sweetish. A very familiar taste but lighter. Nice.

Can from Inoue. Nose is cherry, balsamico. Reddish amber with lace. Soft acidity, with oak, cherry, medium to stronger carbonation. Much milder than the regular one, seems a bit diluted.

Unexpectedly sweet for such a small beer, with plenty of cherry and currant notes bouncing off of candi sugar, oak, and a hint of funk. Tart, woody fade leaves traces of dark fruit. Good pint.

OK, so I had the duchesse years ago and I really digged it & liked it; and I thought this was the same beer but it's not. So, here goes: Pour is darker brownish, almost dark marron in nature. Smell is that of a sweeter wild fermented beer. Ummmmm, taste is so good, I love these flemish beers, they are so enjoyable. Has all the hallmarks of the first duchesse I did. Yea, this stuff is good, I should have bought a six pack of these. Crisp fun cutting co2 too! Man, so enjoyable, so refreshing, just like a good ol' rodenbach. Did they figger out a way to mass produce this stuff? considering the price on the clearance rack? Less than 2$??? Every beer should be a tart flem, ferget about those stupid ass IPA, this is what the old country beer is all about, yummy, yummy. Oh, its all gone, darn, darn!! Wow, a lovely beer tasting experience.

Can. Dark mahogany beer with a tan head. Cherry and tart aroma. Sour and acetic flavor with oak and cherry. Medium bodied. Sour and acetic notes linger with oak and cherry.

From Premier Gourmet in Amherst. Surprised to see this one. Pours cola brown with dark purple. Head is a persistent ring. Vinous and light funk with a little sweetness on the nose. Taste delivers those vinous wine notes, mild funk, over a sweet base. Thinner mouthfeel than the original. Really just a lighter version of the original with a couple of percent less alcohol. Notably thinner but ok.

I like the regular Duchesse better. This one has a little tobacco in the aromas but is a touch dryer with barest hint of oak. This one is smoother and more balanced but the other has a lot more flavor.
