Bottle 0.33l at HBF 2014, Helsinki. Colour is clear light brown with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Fruits, sweetness, alcohol, hints of raisins and malts. Carbonation dominates and covers up malts too much.

33cl bottle. Dark brown, brown head. Raisins, dark fruits, caramel in aroma. Flavor has strong maltyness, bread, anise, mild smokyness. Long sweet finisjh. Really tasty despite the carbonation.

33 cl bottle @ HBF ’14
Aroma is a bit odd with strawberries and caramel. Rather foamy palate. Flavour has strawberries, some toffee and caramel. And a balancing sting of alcohol and a funky character. Unusual BW with a slight ’t IJ twist.

33cl Bottle from SPAR. Slightly hazy chestnut colour, beige head. Aroma of wood, alcohol, sugary sourness, raisins, tannic wine, thinner. Flavour is medium-sweet, sugary, fruity tartness, raisins, plums, wood, booze, bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Don’t really like it.

Hazy mahogany with big light beige head. Smoked sausage, stone fruits, cognac, herbal and vegetal notes, rye bread, yeast. Full bodied. Big sweet taste with some bitter and tart notes. Wild and unbalanced stuff, quite like it, though the smoke is a bit too much for me.

Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a hazy medium amber with a frothy white head and lots of broken lace. The aroma is woody hop yeast. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a smooth malt hop bitter palate. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Lots is flavour and well controlled alcohol.

Sampled from bottle on a quiet Saturday morning at Colin’s. Opaque brownish color, full sized thick off-white head. Smell and taste malts, alcohol, lightly sweet, but also quite bitter in the finish. Nice one. A bit different from most barley wines but nice indeed.
