Smell of coffee, molasses, milk. Black colour, light brown head. Aroma of mudcake, roasted malt, nuts. Starts off sweet, finishes medium bitter. Foamy lively carbon. Quite balanced.

I do like the name Smell-weak roast, coffee. Foam- thin, malt, roast, coffee, weak roast. Head is medium-sized to large, medium dark brown in color. Sticks. Appearance- generic white cap, but I like label and name.Black in color, no carbonation. From - pint Taste - weak hops, malt, faint roast, coffee, faint sweetness. Aftertaste malt and some coffee. Actually quite a good coffee porter.

Flavour is coffee, some nutty and toasted toffeeish tones along with some mild dried dark fruity elements in the background.Nice ashy/roasted and nutty aftertaste with some slight coffee as well.

Coffee porter by Flying Dutchman, made with two different kinds of coffee beans and additionally flavoured with vanilla beans and wood chips made of American oak. Thick, dense and frothy, very tightly plaster-like lacing, mocha-beige, very stable head; clear, very dark chocolate brown robe (as good as black) with deep and bright ruby red glow when held under bright light, remaining clear till the last drop so apparently filtered. Aroma of a lot of coffee (coffee powder, coffee filters and actual cold espresso), dry cookies without the sugar, green walnuts, 'fondant' chocolate, brown bread crust, dry tree leaves, some residual vanilla but not very strong, ground old dry hazelnuts, fudge, white pepper, old raisins, sawdust, young furniture wood, dry tea bags, iron shavings, plaster, nutmeg, blood. Sweetish onset but 'cleanly' and restrainedly so, vague dried fig note, sourish undercurrent, medium carbonation; supple, lean body, bit oily with somewhat metallic edges. Hard-caramelly and - even more so - peanutty malt body with brown bread crust-like side effects, but feeling generally a bit thin for 7+% ABV; soon, though, the coffee component sets in, adding richness to the finish in an aromatic, spicy, 'warming' and very convincing way, as well as a peppery-roasty bitter effect, that in itself blends with a herbal hop note and lingering, deeply toasted-bitter maltiness. Vanilla remains a faraway echo (as it so often does) but there is certainly a clear woodiness, a bit old wooden board- or tabletop-like, with a rustic, tannic effect that matches very well with the coffee; meanwhile a leafy hop bitter note builds up too, tying both bittering factors together and connecting them with the toastiness of the malts - so in all, the finish is very bitter, but in a complex, layered way, and some of the caramelly malt sweetness still pierces through to provide some balance against this bitterness. A rather slender, bit metallic and straightforward malt profile, but the coffee has been applied very generously and quite elegantly here; the wood chips do their job better than they averagely do, it's just the vanilla again that painfully lags behind. Very typical coffee porter and heavy on the coffee - so you really have to like coffee for this, but there is some complexity and 'souplesse' to it which makes it worthwile. One of the better Flying Dutchman offerings for me so far.

Draught @ Brewdog Helsinki. Poured dark brown color. Thick off white head. Huge nutty, dusty, roasty nose. Very strange, not for me. More sweet flavor with nutty overdose. Some coffee.
