Wherryman’s Way IPA is brewed in the American pale ale style, which pays homage to the original strong but light-in-colour English ales that made the journey from Burton-on-Trent to Bombay, with a combination of locally grown Maris Otter pale malt and caramel malt for a deep golden colour with a refreshing dry flavour. Hopped with a combination of Target and Centennial hops and then dry-hopped in the cask with more Centennial and Simcoe hops, the beer is full of a funky citrus hop character like many of its cousins from across the pond.

Slightly hot. A little too much crystal. Great lacing retention. A tad soapy but good use of Simcoe and nice bitterness. Good effort

Bottle as Double W IPA from Memorable Cheeses and More in Ipswich. Pours a deep golden orange colour with an off white creamy head. Lovely aroma of floral hops, grass, citrus, caramel and malt. Good body to it, quite low in carbonation. Enjoyable beer.

Bottle from Alesbymail as Humpty Dumpty Double W IPA. Hazy golden with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty and moderate hoppy - fruity. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Sweet and moderate bitter finish. A bit weak for a Double IPA. 240114

650ml bottle @ Super IPA tasting

Pours dark orange with a smooth foamy head. Aroma of floral hops, grass, malts and caramel. Taste is floral with notes of grassy hops, citrus, some biscuity malts and sweetness. Finish is malty, resinous dry and crisp with some biscuity notes and hops. Okay, quite malty and sweetish IPA.

66 cl bottle @ olio as ”Humpty Dumpty W Double IPA”, BBE 02/2014
Aroma is somewhat fruity with gooseberry bush and hints of vanilla. Flavour has glue, honey, some fruity notes. Harsh finish with gooseberry bush, some nettles and grass. Also some acidic white wine notes. Not very double IPA and not very good.

660ml bottle [Double W IPA]. Filmy copper colour with small, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Citrusy hop aroma with notes of mandarine, minimally herbal, a piney touch. Taste is caramel malty, a touch of biscuit, citrusy hoppy overtones, hints of orange and mandarine; in the finish bitter hoppy with herbal and piney notes. Not a hop bomb, rather an IPA on an introductory level, nevertheless absolutely flawless, well balanced and tasty.

20th December 2010
Very hazy amber beer, short lived bubbly off white head. Semi dry palate. Moderate carbonation. Sweetish malt base that ends up with quite a sugary note. The hops are bitter and a little piney, only minor hop fruit. The hops struggle against the sweetness. But overall this is all right.

Bottle at The Kernel Christmas Tasting, 2011, London. Your welcome for this beauty, gents. Pours cloudy, light brown with a bubbly, foam head. Light toast aroma, faint pine, grass, and subtle alcohol. Very sweet flavor, some woody dirt, light pine. Medium to full bodied with fine, soft carbonation. Faint dry finish, some tangy citrus, dirt, wood. Meh. Yeah, quite dry.
