Today marks the release of our 5th collaboration with @brouwerij_boon, Cuvée Oude Henri.⠀

And my oh my, you are in for a special treat!!!⠀

This Oude Geuze consists of a blend of 1 and 3 year old lambic, that was aged on two special oak foeders which were originally used before by a French producer of a famous white bubbly wine. ⠀

We aren't allowed to mention its name, but you’ll definitely taste what we’re talking about 🥂⠀

We really treasure our yearly collaboration with Boon, because it allows us to push boundaries and play around with a very traditional beer style together with some of the most skilled lambic producers in the world. ⠀

Bottled (from Alko Web). Yellowish golden colour, lots of floaties, mediumsized white head. Aroma is floral, some fruity and mild wooden tones. A wee bit acidic. Flavour is fruity, wooden, some floral, fruity and mild herbal tones. Some acidity to it too. Nicely dry palate.

Flaska från Johannes, från 2020. Ganska klassisk Boon geuze med dess typiska karaktär. Något lägre kolsyra och mjukare. Rejält med sediment i flaskan. Gott och lättdrucket, något stramt.

Corked bottle from La Mise en Bière, carried by mon chou; year 2020
Hazy golden colour. Strong smell, funk, barnyard. It's bone dry, more astringent than the average Lambic, sharp pink grapefruit character, and some pith, not very sour actually, which I appreciate, and tons of funk.

375ml shared with Ryan on Alex's deck. Vintage 2020. Appearance: almost clear pale golden with a white head. Aroma: lots of funk, barnyard, minerals, some fruity notes. Reminds me some 3F gueuzes. Taste: along the same lines, quite sharp, noticeable Brett bitterness. Overall: a bit too sharp Brett bitterness here for me. Except that - it's a good one.

Poured from 375mL bottle (vintage 2020). Clear-ish gold with small white head. Funk and oak, light white wine vinous quality. Quite nice.

--Sample, thanks oh6gdx! -- Clear golden, lively head. Distinct funky barnyard aroma with some citricity. Mildy citric with medium body and rounded, sparkling mouthfeel. Bone dry, ligtly minerally and vinous with lots of horseblanket and old hay, some old grapefruit peels. Mid bitter finish. Elegant and complex. Excellent!

375mL bottle, pours a cloudy bright golden with a large white head. Nose is loaded with barnyard funk, lots of oak, and a touch of white wine. Flavour is bone dry, with lots of oak, barnyard funk, and plenty of white wine. Bone dry, vinous and oaky. Complex and really well-made, but not world-class.
