330ml bottle [once again one of those waxed bottles with material so fucking crumbly that it strays all over the place as you try to release the cap]. Opaque, darkest brown colour with late awakening, small, creamy, fading, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Roasty, dark malty aroma, notes of burnt caramel, whiffs of plum and alcohol, an earthy touch of old leather, leathery roast beef. Taste is bitter, alcoholic and roasty dark malty, notes of burnt caramel, a touch of Bourbon, old leather, shoe sole, unspiced, leathery roast beef. Not much complexity, rather a conglomerate of off-flavours. Nope.

Oh good! Another feckin wax top bottle and not the soft wax but that lovely crumby stuff that goes everywhere. That crap even ended up in my north and south. Hey brewers - please fucking stop! Nobody wants this shite, so fer fuck sake - pack this shit in. Thanks! Semi opaque dark brown beer, short lived bubbly tan head. Smooth and relatively modest dark malts. Modest dark chocolate, dry. Whisper of creamy coffee. The plum brandy barrel imparts a dry but juicy alcoholic plum and a very mild spice. Smooth but fairly dry finish. Jazzed to try an Impy aged in a plum brandy barrel and that barrel character shines through. Trouble is the base Impy is a little thin. No, stet that, it’s really thin. A mixed bag then but interesting and quite drinkable.

Vervelende wax. Overal wax nu. Versplinterde als een malle. Maar wel een goeie brandy barrel aged stout in 't glas. En dat is ook wat waard.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an opaque black with a small, rough, off-white head. Boozy, woody nose - in all honesty it mostly reminds me of whisky. Delicious. Rich, sweet, malty roast with some salty licorice, and again these warming whisky notes. It's really delicious, but it suffers from the lack of carbnation. But the barrel aging is done fine and neat - although I still get more of a whisky feeling....070519

Bottle. Color: Black, thin very light beige head. Aroma: Roasted malt, chocolate, bit boozy. Taste: Medium sweet, dark roasted malt, boozy (Brandy) notes, umami, dark dried fruit (plum, I presume) hints. Moderate bitterness. Medium body, below average carbonation. Bit flat, lacking body. Not that bad, but no top BA Imperial Stout.
