Made by a family-owned brewery in Wisconsin that’s been a-brewin’ for more than 150 years, Simpler Times Pilsner is an old-world, Czech-style Pilsner that's refreshing, easy to drink, and has a well-balanced flavor that pairs swimmingly with seafood, sweet sauces, and reductions. And just like in simpler times, this brewer never adds any of the fillers found in some inexpensive beers. We’re all for simply terrific beer at a simply terrific price. Here’s to Simpler Times!

Orangish pour. It smells like corn and malt. The flavor is sweet with corn, other grains, and very minimal hops. This is not a pils. It’s not completely offensive, but bleh. Yes, it’s cheap, but so what? Unless you just want want to get drunk, spending money on bad beer seems pointless.

Jesus this is bad. Not sure what discriminates this from their lager, taste very similar with harsh grainy notes, corn, acetaldehyde. Light bitterness.

Can from Trader Joes. A deep gold lager, with some herbal hops, sweet malts and moderately bitter finish. Ok.

12oz can on 3rd May 2016 at my daughters place in California. Deep golden body, clear and clean looking, white head that faded fast. Not as bad as I expected to be honest, when I realised where she had bought the six pack, not that I have anything against Trader Joe’s or their beers. Anyway this was fairly sweet with a malty lead in both the aroma and taste, slight bitter, hoppy finish.

Probably not a can of pilsner. More like cheap aged pale lager. Rather rude initial impact. Gets better as the session continues.

60 cents a can at Trader Joe’s. Not bad for the price, clean, clear and crisp pilsner. Plenty of adjunct grains here, a little light o aroma and taste, and no finish, but great on a hot day (it’s been in the 100’s here, so it tastes good right about now)

Yellow Color, Medium Head, Decent Spotty Lacing. Not Really A pilsner. Sweet Corn, Slight Malt. Watery. Drinkable, but not really good. Cheap, Comes from Minhas, Monroe, WI, so no real surprises. Pass It...

Decent grainy nose, some corn. Clear amber, medium head, some visible carbonation. Flavor is sweet buttered corn, some fusel alcohol. Finishes with corn husks. Cheap but almost passable. Better than most macros.

12 oz can purchased at Trader Joes in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is a golden light dull copper with a white head that falls pretty quick. The aroma is softer, lightly sweet grain, with a bit of a general dustiness. The taste is initially sharply sweet grain, a bit of a contrast to the relatively soft nose, then turns to mineral yeast earthiness. Finish has some sweet floral hay that lingers with some dirtiness. The palate is medium to light bodied, soft dull carbonation, and the dirty finish. This was a step up from the macros, I suppose, though a fairly short step.
